Cable Modem DNS Configuration for Microsoft Windows 2000

To begin, Click Start/Settings/Control Panel/Network and Dial-up Connections to open the Network and Dial-up Connections Window. Locate the icon Local Area Connection. Using the RIGHT mouse button, click one time on this icon and click Properties as shown below.





Step 1

Click to highlight the item Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties as shown below.





Step 2

Click to turn on the option Use the following DNS server addresses:. Locate the text box Preferred DNS server and enter the address 204.116.57.2 as shown below. Repeat this by entering the address 206.74.254.2 in the Alternate DNS server text box.





Procedure Complete

To save these settings, click OK to close the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties box then click OK to close the Local Area Connection Properties box. The new changes should now be in affect.
