Cable Modem DNS Configuration for Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME
To begin, Click Start/Settings/Control Panel to open the Control Panel.
Locate and double click on the Network Icon as shown below.
Step 1
Click the Identification tab and make a note of your Computer name EXACTLY as
shown. IMPORTANT: If the Computer name has any spaces (ex. My System), you
will need to change it to a name that has no spaces and reboot your computer then
start this prodecure from the beginning.
Step 2
Click the Configuration tab. Locate and click to highlight the component
TCP -> NetworkCard
as shown below and click the Properties button.
Step 3
When the TCP/IP Properties box opens, click the DNS Configuration tab. In the
text box labeled Host, enter the computer name that you made a note of in Step
1. Next, enter homexpressway.net in the text box labeled Domain.
Locate the text box under DNS Server Search Order. This box will have three dots.
Starting at the left side of this box, enter the address 204.116.57.2 and click the
Add
button. Repeat by entering the address 206.74.254.2 and clicking the Add button.
Procedure Complete
To save these settings, click OK to close the TCP/IP Properties box then click OK to close
the Network box. Windows will then let you know that it will need to be restarted. When Windows
restarts, the new changes will be in affect.
