DSL DNS Configuration for Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME

To begin, locate and double click the My Computer icon to open My Computer. Locate and double click on the Dial-Up Networking icon as shown below. Note: if you are using Windows ME, Dial-Up Networking will be a line of text on the left side of My Computer instead of an Icon.





Step 1

In the Dial-Up Networking window, locate the WinPoET Connection icon. Using the RIGHT mouse button, click one time on this icon and click properties as shown below.





Step 2

When the WinPoET Connection box opens, click the Server Types tab (Networking tab for Windows ME users) then locate and click the TCP/IP Settings button as shown below.





Step 3

When the TCP/IP Settings box opens, click the option to Specify name server addresses. Locate the text box below labeled Primary DNS. Starting at the left side of this box, enter the address 204.116.57.2 then enter the address 206.74.254.2 in the text box labeled Secondary DNS as shown below.





Procedure Complete

To save these settings, click OK to close the TCP/IP Settings box then click OK to close the WinPoET Connection box. The new changes will take affect the next time you connect to the Internet.
