Dial-Up DNS Configuration for Microsoft Windows XP

To begin, Click Start/Control Panel to open the Control Panel. If your Control Panel is displayed in Classic View as in Figure 1, locate and double click the Network Connections icon and proceed to Step 1. If your Control Panel is displayed in Category View as in Figure 2, locate and click Network and Internet Connections then click Network Connections as in Figure 3.

Step 1

Locate the icon in the Dial-Up section. Using your RIGHT mouse button, click one time on this icon and select properties as shown below.

Locate and click the Networking tab. Click to highlight the item Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click properties as shown below.

Click to turn on the option Use the following DNS server addresses:.  Locate the text box Preferred DNS server and enter the address 204.116.57.2 as shown below. Repeat this by entering the address 206.74.254.2 in the Alternate DNS server text box.





Procedure Complete

To save these settings, click OK to close the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties box then click OK to close the Connection Properties box. The new changes should take affect the next time you connect to the Internet.
