Benefits of High Definition Television
Clearer Picture: Television images are delivered in horizontal lines. Regular televisions display a maximum of 480 lines at one time. HDTV sets display up to 720 - 1080 viewable lines of resolution. This means a much crisper picture.
More Vivid Colors: The color resolution on an HDTV is far superior to that of a regular television.
Dolby DigitalRAudio: HDTV audio is broadcast with this amazing technology, and many are broadcast in 5.1 Dolby DigitalR surround sound, providing a truly incredible television experience.
Wide-Screen Picture: Theatrical films are usually made much wider than the 4 by 3 aspect ratio used by traditional televisions. This wider aspect ratio more closely mimics the actual human field of vision. HDTV uses a 16 by 9 aspect ratio, delivering programs with less "edge cropping" and more of the scenery and action.
